1,800 Menorahs and the Stories Behind Them

This Chanukah, Beis Menachem Chabad Lubavitch reached across Greater Manchester with a simple but powerful goal: to bring light to as many homes as possible.

Families and bochurim distributed 1,800 menorah kits throughout the community, supported by eight car parades that traveled through multiple neighborhoods. Together with L’Chaim Chabad Lubavitch, bochurim prepared dozens of car and public menorahs, ensuring that the message of Chanukah was visible far beyond synagogue walls.

Along the way, countless personal moments unfolded. One community member shared after a visit from two bochurim, “They are the nicest young boys with manners and just such a good demeanour. They are a true example to their families and to the yeshiva.”

Other moments were quieter but no less impactful. During mivtzoim, bochurim helped a man put on tefillin during a difficult time in his life, offering not only assistance but genuine care. On another occasion, they encouraged a discouraged teenager to put on tefillin for the first time—an act that became a lasting daily commitment.

These encounters, repeated hundreds of times throughout Kislev, reflect the heart of BMCL’s outreach: meeting people where they are, with warmth, sincerity, and respect
